About Melissa D. Sexton, PhD, MDiv, LMFT
I am here for YOU...
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and pastoral counselor, with a PhD in Comparative Literature from Emory University. I am also an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. I have integrative training in the neuroscience of the body-mind connection, utilizing stress reduction techniques and storytelling in ways that reframe how it is you see yourself living your life more authentically, in love and work. My therapeutic training in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories and methods has uniquely equipped me with an ability to work with your communication patterns, helping you access your deeper life's material, where we can try to provide new insights which serve to help set you free. Interpretations and interventions, around old wounds and patterns, help to move you down the path to a greater sense of well-being and purpose.
Additionally, I have had extensive experience designing retreat and group interactions, toward community building, group work, and FUN moments where laughter enhances and forges new connections! I've had the privilege to work with very fine teachers and partners, across multiple diverse cultural experiences and perspectives.
